This tour reveals the lesser-told side of the city’s history; one dominated not by great men but by inspirational women, who persevered within a bastion of patriarchy.
Quick Details
This tour showcases some of the incredible pieces of women-made street art in the vibrant but lesser-explored Buttes-aux-Cailles neighbourhood.
Starting the tour near Place d’Italie, where classic buildings mingle with modern high-rises, Charlotte, our passionate and witty guide leads you through the streets, unveiling the story of this contemporary phenomenon. This tour aims to celebrate women’s street art; exploring both the artist’s backstory and deciphering meaning in their work. You will see big names in Paris street art such as Kashink and Miss.tic as well as some up and coming women artists on the Paris scene, such as Marquise. The artworks discovered and discussed along the tour are a mix of murals, collages, and mixed media, we even discuss women’s empowerment through the art of yarnbombing!
The tour examines the lives, works and difficulties faced by these artists, and, if you are lucky, we may even get the opportunity to meet one of the artists herself!
Please dress appropriately for weather and wear comfortable shoes for walking and bring something to sit and snack on.
